This year for 2014, using their foremost leading and integrative technologies, Realtree has created the most versatile, realistic looking camouflage for the everyday waterfowler; Realtree Max-5. Somewhat similar to the Realtree Max-4, this new camouflage has added a multitude of colors, shadows, and natural tones that will increase the layers of invisibility to any surrounding/setting. Featuring cattails, reeds, grasses, and cane it is the ideal blend for swamped marshes. It also includes attributes of leaves, branches and twigs for those flooded timber hunts.
First hearing about this new camouflage I wasn’t sure what to expect. Although the majority of my hunting gear is Realtree Max-4, and don’t get me wrong I’m quite fond of it. It has great detailing and serves its purpose for where most of my hunts take place, I still always felt that there needed to be more going on; maybe a little more green, more cattails, and it could stand to be lighter in color, etc. For instance, my waders…once they hit the water it’s like a giant stain of dark brown….not quite the ideal facade when you’re standing on a riverbank in a mess of tall cattails. But checking out the new Max-5, it gives off the best combination of ecological foliage in a natural environment; the epitome for an idyllic waterfowl habitat. Using the advertising slogan: “Dedication never looked better” Realtree has taken it to another level of concealment.
So far I have primarily found it advertised for Banded brands and Hardcore’s newest line of waterfowl gear. The contrast and detailing is amazing, making it truly the most preeminent camouflage for waterfowl hunters everywhere. So whether hunting prairie potholes, agricultural fields, or green timber this is the latest and probably most adaptable, multipurpose camouflage on the market!
