Worst Elk hunting experience of my life. Would not recommend this so called outfitter to anyone. Had such a bad experience I will most likely never hunt Wy again. Nothing more than a guided horse back ride.
I have to say that this was my worst hunting trip I have ever experienced. Spent more time on horses trying to spook up or bust out the game. Very little game to be seen and a great many other outfitters/horses in the same area we were hunting…but they say they have exclusive rights? Never got a contract or invoice prior to arriving. Was told all prices were inclusive then they asked me for taxes/fees. The entire high camp got extremely sick and they were ‘ill’ prepared and offered nothing to make up for two days of lost guides. Last day of the “hunt” was actually packing out and hunting on the way back down to base camp. Food was great! Nice bed space and fire stoves in tents. Fresh water and clean urninals were available. Friendly people at camp and friendly staff. I just believe the wildlife has left the area and DD are unable to cope with the invasion of other camps/hunters.
Would not recommend this outfitter for the serious hunter, as their main focus never appeared to be on the hunt but dealing with daily problems. These problems included horses and food. We never started on time in the morning. Between four hunters and five hunting days only saw one bull. Would not call Double Y an outfitter. Just a below average hunting guide.
